Can you invite me to your condo?

Now that I’ve confirmed a thriving population of skyline lovers, I would like to go around Atlanta photographing cool views of the city!

And what better way than to ask readers to invite me to their high-rise apartments/condos to grab a few pics?

Note, I would also accept invites from folks who live, say, in a two-story house on the western edge of Grant Park, where some homes do have a cool view of the skyline.

Think I’m kinda creepy? Ok, that hurts, but in that case, why don’t you send me photos you’ve taken? The guidelines are simply photos from your house/apartment/condo of the skyline. I’m guessing the folks on higher floors are going to have better views.

Rooftop common areas also count. That’s how I got this great shot:

I took it from the top of the Oakland Park condo building during the recent Grant Park Tour of Homes.

And an inside view sure beats an outside, curbside view. Check out this sad little photo:

I took this photo from the street outside of the new Pencil Factory lofts that are going up next to the King MARTA station. Can you just imagine the view from an actual apartment/condo there?!

So who’s game?

I just want a photo from your deck — not your name, social security number, sexual orientation or political affiliation. You can be purple and procreate with plants. Just invite me to your place!

  2. At this moment, my dog, Peanut, is barking at our hi-rise Midtown condo view of the fireworks exploding above Georgia Tech stadium. Homecoming? Other than that…it’s hard to give you a skyline view when we live IN the skyline. Our condo is right across the street from the Bank of America building. It’s funny to think of those BOA lawyers watching us walk around in our underwear or changing cat litter on our little balcony. I liked to tell prospective condo buyers that I live on the “emergency room” side of the building—oh how I LOVE listening to ambulance sirens as they pull up to Emory Crawford Long Hospital (now Emory University Midtown Hospital). Not! Anywhichwho, I can see the original brick Crawford Long Hospital.

At night, you never know what kind of “financial transactions” you’ll run into on this block. But by day, lots of business types, church types, and a pregnant woman type walking a dog finding what little greenspace there is on Peachtree Street.

  4. Wow! That’s such an interesting perspective — to be IN the skyline.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I was on the upper floor of a building downtown the other day and it was so weird to look out the window and smack right in front of you are the twin tower state buildings. You have a similar sensation at the Sun Dial in the Westin.

Unfortunately as much as I like to make it sound like these views are all wonderful, from up high I’ve noticed you can also see just how much city land is devoted to surface parking lots! Not a pretty sight.

  8. The lack of invitations — does this really mean I’m creepy? Was my request creepy?

    I have another theory!

None of our readers are rich enough to live in a high-rise condo! (present company included!)

  10. Our condo building practically held a 2-for-1 sale on the remaining empty condos! So “rich”, ech! Anyways, write me at silvia_medrano@hotmail.com and I’ll send you my phone number. Come on over!
