Push it all together and make one good city
Actress Jasmine Guy said the following about Atlanta, where she grew up and now lives, in an interview published in the AJC Sunday:
“I love the accessibility of the city. I mean, I know that people are complaining about the traffic and how spread out everything is, but coming from L.A., where everything is 45 minutes, to a place where things are 20 or 30 …”
That’s an interesting perspective; Los Angeles must be absolutely gynormous.
Here’s what I think about Atlanta’s accessibility: I fantasize about pushing the disparate parts of the city together to make one good city.
You know, push Buckhead down so it’s closer to Midtown, and squeeze Decatur closer to East Lake and Candler Park, and close the gap between the Westside and the rest of the city.
Best way to describe it, is to quote from this Robin Williams comedy routine from back in 1986.
The part around 1 min, 20 sec describes my vision for the city perfectly.
